I think there's a rule that prevents players who have been in the league for a certain amount of time from winning the award. Meh.gif

TheGlyde, a poster at RealGM who responded to the article reminded this:

QUOTE
Mikki Moore got votes for the award last year in his 9th season at age 31, so even if there is some absurd restriction about < 10 seasons or <32 years old (why on earth would there be) Hedo is eligible.

I too assumed there was a restriction. But, apparently there isn't.

Weekend Dime at ESPN

An excerpt from the second box (emphasis mine):
QUOTE
Yet it'll probably be tough for the Spanish point guard [Jose Calderon] to maintain those numbers for the rest of the season with T.J. Ford back, which could well lead us back to the First Trimester wrestling we did trying to choose between the Clippers' Chris Kaman and the Orlando duo of Howard and Hedo Turkoglu ... which as previously explained remains complicated because Howard might have been too good already to be considered for this award and because Turkoglu (in his eighth season) doesn't quite meet the league's MIP guidelines. The official ballot, remember, instructs to vote for "an up-and-coming player."

Odd. I wonder why Moore received votes last year then?

I could see Rashad McCants winning it this year maybe.

Rudy Gay is a good pick. I'd still say it should come from the Magic, in the form of D12. The man has taken things to a entirely new level, even for him.

And, just a prediction for next year; look for this to be Jameer's baby. He is much better than he has played so far, more in line with how he played two years ago, but better.

He can play PG and that's a plus.
