Orlando Sentinel....

Would be super sweet, but as great of a guy that Dooling is... he won't take that kind of pay cut.

QUOTE
The Orlando Magic have offered Keyon Dooling a contract, but it likely isn't enough for him to return and back up starting point guard Jameer Nelson.

Magic General Manager Otis Smith said Sunday that the club has offered Dooling the biannual exception, a two-year deal worth about $3.8 million or $1.9 million per season. Dooling made almost that much last season ($3.5 million).

"We'd like to have Keyon back, but that's up to him," Smith said. "We're not sure if that's going to work."

When contacted by the Sentinel last week, Dooling intimated that the Magic might not have the resources to re-sign him.

Doubt he'll take that.

He'd be super ----ing nuts to take that deal.

Do we applaud Otis for reaching out to Keyon or boo him for making such a low offer? Hm.

I think the offer is basically so the Magic can say "see, we tried."

No way Dooling will accept it. He's got other teams knocking at his door.

I'd like to retain Dooling, but it won't happen with this offer.

Isnt that all they can offer? They arent going to go over the luxary tax just to sign keyon Dooling.

They should go over to keep this guy. We were over for years to keep people like Pat Garrity happy so why not offer Dooling something close to what he deserves? Isnt the tax only 50% of the amount over? Thats chump change for Mr. Amway and Co.

Well, Dooling hasn't signed anywhere yet. Maybe the market isn't as good as Dooling had hoped? Time is on the Magic's side, but I would have to think that somewhere Dooling will get a sizeable contract.

I know Miami would like him but no offer has been sent his way besides ours. Maybe we could retain him for a cheaper amount than he deserves and what he got last year.

Maybe it'll be the Deshawn Stevenson saga all over again! (Hope not!)

According to Matty Goukus, The reason they dont go over the LT has something to do with the New arena. Now im not sure how that ties into players salary but according to him it does, and I would have to say that he knows more about the business side of it than we do. But maybe n8c21's uncles sisters cousin's aunt's husband knows whats going on since he's in charge of all the Orlando Magic's financial department and since he can shoot better than 38% from behind the NBA three point line....... n8c21? Your up.

They would have to pay $1 for every million they go over.
